The column Living The New Adoption Law is about a girl named Hope Coffee who was adopted and with the new adoption law passed will get to know her parents names and she can then go from there. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/columnists/krista-ramsey/2014/03/08/krista-ramsey-new-adoption-law-ohio/6222347/
The line that really stood out to me was when she said, "The 23-year-old Western Hills resident is one of 400,000 Ohio adoptees who, for the first time in their lives, will have access to the names of their biological parents and the details of their birth." This line has a lot of impact on the reader because first it states just how many adoptees there are in Ohio. This is a very large number and it shows just how many are around you today. Another reason that this line really impacts the reader is because with the words "for the first time in their lives" those are really bold words and it shows that these people could be 40 and for the first time in all there years of living they will be able to access this information. There are not very many complex terms used in this sentence most of them are very casual and informal. The sentence is very long and is broken up using two commas. Most of Krista Rammsey's sentences are this long though. Krista Ramsey's writing style is very unique. She can write any story meaning that she can write stories to make you feel sad, happy, and all different emotions. An example where she writes it in a sad way, "You can't help but worry what all that screen time is doing to his posture, social skills and grades." This is sad because it is so true. An example of where the mood is lightened is when she wrote, "Whatever the score of the game, they'll both look like winners." This lightens the mood because she is kind o making a joke but it is also very nice and brings up the mood with the playful laughter used. The last quote I will use is another one that can be uses to lighten the mood, "In 2012, with encouragement from her adoptive parents, she went so far as to consult an attorney and have papers drawn up to allow her and her birth mother to release contact information to each other." This makes you happy because you can see that she has support from her family and courage to do things. Krista can capture any emotion with her very unique writing style. The first question that I would ask Krista Rammsey is how she finds these stories? How can she find all these stories that are so big like this but aren't on the news. The second question that I would ask is what kinds of questions do you ask them when you're interviewing them? The last question that I would ask her is how do you get the quotes from the professionals like in your story about the need for better vision?
